OPEN SPACE (2016)

Collection of light sculptures, Carpenters Gallery, 2016

This work challenges our perception of form. They are angular light sculptures that contrast fluorescent tubes with simple concrete forms.

The three-dimensional sculptures are made up of different concrete shapes which, when illuminated by tubes of white light, create new geometric forms. This series continues the relationship between two- and three-dimensional objects. The sculptures “explore time, action, movement, flow and fluidity, opening up the space an object takes up and exploring its relationship with the place where it stands”. The minimal, luminous pieces double up as objets d’art, their aesthetic function as important as their ability to illuminate a space.
